This initial subsidy inspection was conducted by the inspector using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency declared by the Governor of Virginia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Preliminary data was obtained from the vendor on May 12, 2020. An initial subsidy inspection was initiated on May 15, 2020, at which time the vendor was contacted by telephone, using the virtual remote protocol to initiate the inspection, and concluded May 15, 2020. The inspector emailed the vendor a list of items required to complete the inspection. The vendor reported there were five children in care and five staff present. The inspector reviewed two children?s records and two staff records submitted by the vendor and health and safety regulations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.

Based on review of two staff records and interview, the vendor did not ensure at least one staff was on duty who had obtained within the last three years instruction in performing a daily health observation of children. Evidence: The records for Staff #1 and Staff #2 did not contain documentation of daily health observation training. Staff #1 stated staff had not obtained training for daily health observation since opening the program in November 2019.
Plan of Correction:
The licensing inspector will send information on where to obtain the training. Once the information is received, staff will complete the training within two weeks.
