Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on April 29,2024 from 12:00pm to 2:20pm. There were 45 children present and 11 staff. The Inspectors reviewed five children?s records and five staff records. Children were observed during naptime, transitioning after naptime, bathroom breaks, and handwashing. Emergency preparedness documents were reviewed, and the transportation van was observed. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice and discussed with the owner during the exit meeting.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation, it was determined that the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center are maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
1.A nap cot was propped in an unstable manner approximately six inches from a resting child, posing an injury and tipping hazard.
2 The cords for the radios in the four- to five-year-old classroom and in the three- to four-year-old classroom were plugged in and in reach of children. A tablet propped on a shelf was plugged into the wall next to a resting child with the wire hanging down accessible to children in the two-year-old classroom. This poses as a strangulation hazard to the children in care.

Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The cords were immediately put out of reach during the time of the inspection. In the future, the tablet will be charged over night preventing the charger cord being accessible to children. The radios in both classrooms will only be plugged in when used.
