Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today with the director, who was present with 16 children and two staff. The inspection took place from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm. The ages of the children present ranged from 2 to 5 years. The Licensing Inspector was able to observe the younger children eating lunch and the older children outside on the playground. Medications were reviewed for three children. Six children and four staff files were reviewed as well as documentation of injuries/accidents. The areas of non compliance is outlined on the violation notice.
Based on an inspection of the playground, it was determined there was insufficient resilient surfacing under and around the climbing play equipment on the playground. Evidence: There was no resilient surfacing underneath and surrounding the dome climber on the playground as the mulch that was there had degraded and turned to dirt, which is not an acceptable resilient surface.
Plan of Correction:
I will place the dome climber off limits until we can add the mulch.
