Technical Assistance:
Today we discussed 8VAC20-800-520
A. Cribs shall be provided for children from birth through 12 months of age and for children over 12 months of age who are not developmentally ready to sleep on a cot, rest mat, or bed.

If a parent advises that their child (over 12 months of age) is not developmentally ready to sleep on a cot or rest mat, then the parent should obtain documentation from the child's physician with recommendations for appropriate sleeping arrangements.

Consider the size and weight of the children with regard to the crib manufacturer's recommendations and whether their standing height could pose a risk of the child climbing or falling when attempting to climb the crib side.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/20/2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm.
