Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on October 20, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were six children present and three staff. A licensing inspection was conducted at the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based on review of children records, the center failed to ensure that there was a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy in the child's file.
Evidence: 1. Child #2's registration form indicated that the child has several food allergies. There was no written allergy plan in the child's file or at the center. 2. Staff verified that Child #2 had food allergies and there was not a written allergy plan on file for the child.
Plan of Correction:
The site supervisor will speak with the parent at pick-up and request that a written allergy plan be obtained immediately. Once the allergy plan is obtained the center will email it to the Licensing Inspector to verify that the allergy plan has been obtained.
