Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was conducted on December 3, 2020. The area manager was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were nineteen children present and three staff. The inspector emailed the area manger a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed two children?s records and four staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.
Based on review and interview, facility did not ensure an Office of Background Investigation (OBI) fingerprinting determination letter was received prior to staff beginning employment.
Evidence: The record for staff #2 (start date September 21, 2020) had an OBI fingerprinting determination letter dated September 17, 2020. Documentation stated orientation was completed on September 15, 2020 which is prior to the date of the OBI fingerprinting determination letter. Information was verified by the Area Manager.
Plan of Correction:
New Training Coordinator has been hired and new orientation policies are in place to ensure all requirements are being met.
