Technical Assistance:
1. Reviewed annual training requirements, hazardous substances that are to be kept out of reach of children and locked, out-of-state background checks, and requirement for tables to be cleaned before and after children eat. 2. On child enrollment documents parents may not list themselves as the emergency contacts.
Comments:
Conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection at 10:15am. Observed 73 children + 15 direct-care staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed eating snack, playing with toys, having storytime, making art projects, having show + tell, learning about the space and the upcoming solar eclipse, writing the alphabet, and arriving + departing for the day. Staff were actively engaged with the children and activities. Classrooms were were found to be clean and well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Today was also parent-teacher conference day. Areas of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed were found. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Evidence:
1. Staff #4 - An out-of-state child abuse/neglect search was not completed within the 1st 30-days of employment and to-date has not been completed. First day of employment was 10/21/22. 2. Staff #7 - An out of state child abuse/neglect search was not completed within the 1st 30-days of employment and to-date has not been completed; and an out-of-state criminal record check was not completed prior to the first day of employment and to-date has not been completed. First date of employment was 6/6/22.
