Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/9/20 and concluded on 11/10/20. The administrator was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 54 children present with 9 staff. The inspector emailed the administrator a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 medications and supporting documents, 4 children?s records and 4 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2
Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to obtain a search of central registry within 30 days of employment for one out of four staff records reviewed.

Evidence:

1. The documentation on the orientation form stated staff 4 started 9/14/20. The central registry finding had a date of 10/29/20.
2. The director verified the the start date on the orientation form was correct. The director was unable to provide information on why the central registry finding was over 30 days after employment.

Plan of Correction: In the future central registry background checks will be followed-up to ensure the findings are received within 30 days. The staff record will be documented
