Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on May 18, 2021 and concluded on May 18, 2021. The provider contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were six children present and one caregiver. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records and one caregiver records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure firearms were stored unloaded in a locked container, compartment, or cabinet.
Evidence:
1. A firearm was observed in an unlocked security case on the top shelf of an area children do not access. 2. The provider stated the security box had latches but was not locked and that the firearm was unloaded.
