Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated on August 17, 2021 and concluded on August 20, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 23 children present and eight staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure that staff wash their hands before each diaper change.
Evidence:
Staff 3 did not wash her hands after changing the diaper of an infant in care.

Plan of Correction: Staff has been trained to wash hands before diapers as well as after.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-I
Description: Based on observation and interview the center failed to maintain a one day's emergency supply of disposable bottles, nipples and commercial formulas appropriate for the children in care.
1 - There was not a one day's supply disposable bottles, nipples and formulas available during the inspection.
2 - Six bottle fed infants were present in care during the virtual inspection on August 19th.
3 - Staff 1 and 2 confirmed that there was not a day's emergency supply of disposable bottles, nipples and formulas available.

Plan of Correction: We now keep a 1 day emergency supply of disposable bottles nipples & formula for each infant in our care.
