Technical Assistance:
+The inspector reviewed requirements for children's records. Model enrollment forms left with provider.
+Paper towels or individually assigned cloth towels must be available to children for hand washing.
+Protective barriers such as a safety gate must be placed at entrance to stairs when children are in care.
+Suggest purchasing a thermometer to measure temperature in refrigerator - temperature to be maintained at no more than 40 degrees (F).
+Discussed the requirement for posting the number for 911 or local emergency phone numbers in a visible area of the home.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 01/10/2024 from 11:32 am - 12:45 pm.
There were no children in care. All VR requirements were reviewed with the provider.

Based on the information gathered violations were found in the areas of the Health & Safety Checklist. These violations are listed on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-180-1-F
Description: Based on observation and interview, the provider did not have a posted evacuation plan.

Evidence:
1. The inspector did not see a posted evacuation plan and the provider stated she had not posted an evacuation plan.

Plan of Correction: The provider stated that an emergency evacuation plan will be posted.

Standard #: 22VAC40-180-2-D
Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to take steps to safeguard the home from open and obvious household hazards.

Evidence:
1. The television media console measuring approximately 54 inches wide x 68 inches high was not secured to the wall. This is a toppling hazard.
2. The plastic coating applied to the hand basin was peeling away in multiple areas. This sink will be used by children for hand washing.

Plan of Correction: The provider stated that the console will be secured to the wall and that a maintenance request will be placed to re-coat the sink surface.
