Discussed having specific product name on camp's sunscreen and insect repellent listed on Authorization for topical products form. Also noted date and person verifying identity be noted on copy of birth certificate or completed on child registration form. Consultation was given regarding announcement that effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted 7/1/2024 from 9:32am-11:40am. There were 101 children directly supervised by 38 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in activities at the swimming pool, on the playground, preparing for lunch and one child being treated for a bug bite. The children and staff were engaged and attentive. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Based on record review the center did not maintain a record for each child containing all required information. Evidence: 1. Child #2's record did not have addresses of two designated people to contact in an emergency if a parent cannot be reached. 2. Child #3's record did not have addresses of a second designated person to contact in an emergency if a parent cannot be reached.
