A subsidy health and safety inspection was conducted on 11/28/2022. There were 22 infants & toddlers present with 6 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on record review, the vendor failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration.
Evidence: 1. The CPR certification for staff 1 did not include an in-person competency demonstration. a. The class taken was an on-line class obtained on 07/30/22. b. Staff 1 has a hire date of 07/12/2022. 2. Administrative staff confirmed that the CPS class completed by staff 1 lacked an in-person skills demonstration.
Plan of Correction:
A CPR and First Aid class is scheduled for January 25, 2023. Staff 1 will attend. There are additional staff in each classroom with current CPR certification from an approved class.
