Technical Assistance:
"Shelter-in-place" means the movement of occupants of the building to designated protected spaces within the building. Shelter in place procedures shall be practiced a minimum of twice per year.

Comments:
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 1/18/23 and concluded on 1/18/23. There were 11 children present, ranging in ages from 6 months to 2 years, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-690-D
Description: Based on observation, the provider failed to change a child's diaper on a surface that was nonabsorbent and washable.

Evidence:

The provider was observed changing a child's diaper in the crib on a blanket.

Plan of Correction: From now on diapers will always be changed on the nonabsorbent pad.
