8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted on 1/17/24 from 6:45pm until 8:35pm. There were no children in care during the inspection. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law. Violations are cited on the violation notice and were discussed with the vendor during the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-250-B
Description: Based on record review and interview, the vendor did not ensure that all caregivers shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff sponsored by the Department of Education within 90 days of employment or 90 days from subsidy vendor approval.

Evidence:
1. There is no documentation in the caregiver record that caregiver 1 (date of hire: 7/15/22) has completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.
2. The vendor confirmed that caregiver 1 has not completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.

Plan of Correction: The vendor responded with the following: Caregiver 1 will complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff as soon as possible and documentation will be placed in her record.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-430-A-3
Description: Based on interview, the vendor did not ensure that lockdown procedures shall be practiced at least annually.

Evidence:
The vendor stated that she has not practiced lockdown procedures at least annually.

Plan of Correction: The vendor responded with the following: Going forward, the vendor will ensure that lockdown procedures are practiced at least once a year.
