Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 03/31/2023 to determine compliance at a new residence of the voluntary registered provider. . There were no children present. The inspector reviewed compliance with the Voluntary Registration Health and Safety Checklist.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with expectations and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Violations were reviewed with the provider during the exit interview.
Based upon observation, the provider has not ensured that the outdoor play area used by children is free from open and obvious hazards. Evidence: The following were found on the back yard play area: - standing water in buckets used for a clothesline - clothesline poles leaning on the ground with loose long strings attached - broken metal clothesline pole with sharp edges on pole and on bucket to which pole had been attached. - unlocked storage shed/garage - phone wire across the ground creating a tripping hazard - litter to include trash, bottle tops, cigarette butts, pieces of wood, rocks

Based upon observation, the provider has not ensured that there are safeguards from hazards such as small items that could be swallowed. Evidence: There was a drawer in a cabinet in the kitchen with various tools and small items that did not have a safety clasp to inhibit access by children.

Based upon observation, the provider has not ensured that toxic household products are in areas inaccessible to children. Evidence: 1. There was a gallon container of bleach and a container of laundry detergent on the floor beside the washer/dryer in an area with no door or child proofing. Both products had warning labels. 2. There were hygiene products with warning labels on the sink in the bathroom to be used by the children.
