8 VAC 20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Technical Assistance:
Discussion that the Family Day Home became a subsidy vendor on 08/30/2022.

A blank copy of an Action Allergy Plan will be sent to the Provider to use for a child in care.

Comments:
This Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on 09/28/2022, between the hours of 10 am to 11 am. There was 1 preschool child present (2 points), with 1 caregiver supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined (2) non-compliances with the applicable standards. Violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the home.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-170-G
Description: Based on observation, the vendor did not maintain a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions.

Evidence -
1. On the date of inspection (09/28/2022), the allergy, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions list was not available for review.
2. It was determined that the needs of Child #1 would be added to such a list.

Plan of Correction: An allergy, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions list will be compiled for all children in care. This list will be updated on a regular basis.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-190-B-12
Description: Based on review, a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction was not available.

Evidence -
1. An action allergy plan for Child #1 was not available for review.
2. A need for this plan was based on the information contained within the record of Child #1.

Plan of Correction: An action allergy plan for Child #1 will be completed by the child's parents and doctor. Once obtained, it will go on file.
