Comments:
An announced initial inspection was conducted on 12/9/22 from 10:00 am to 11:25 am. There were 4 children (9 points) present with 1 caregiver supervising. The children were observed playing in the home-living area and watching a children's show on television. A walk through of the family day home was conducted to assess the indoor and outdoor space used by the children. Currently the provider is not MAT certified and will be not administering medications. 3 children's records, 1 caregiver's record, and 2 household member records were reviewed. Emergency postings, supplies, first aid kit and 2 cribs on site were checked for compliance. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. For any questions regarding this inspection, please contact me at mahrukh.aziz@doe.virginia.gov or 571-835-4718.
Based on observation and staff interview, wood burning fireplaces were not inspected annually. Evidence: 1. The family day home has two wood burning fireplaces, one in the basement and the other on the main level of the home. 2. An annual inspection to verify that the fireplaces were properly installed, maintained and cleaned as needed, was not completed for either fireplace.
Plan of Correction:
I will look for a company that will come to check it.
