Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on March 3, 2023. The inspector arrived at 11am and departed at approximately 12:30pm. Present in the home were 3 children, totaling 6 points, and one provider. Children and staff interactions were observed throughout the entire inspection. Children were observed during free play, handwashing, and the start of lunch. Emergency preparedness documents were observed. A sample size of four children's records were reviewed. No children's injuries were reported. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the family day home and were reviewed with the provider at the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280
Description: Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies be stored away and inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
1. A bottle of color enamel with a warning label, ?Keep out of reach of children? was on the floor near the children?s toy bin. The bottle was in reach of children in care.
2. Staff #1 confirmed the bottle was in reach of children in care.

Plan of Correction: The provider responded with the following: Staff #1 immediately locked up the color enamel bottle making it inaccessible to children in care.
