Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on March 3, 2023. The inspector arrived at 11am and departed at approximately 12:30pm. Present in the home were 3 children, totaling 6 points, and one provider. Children and staff interactions were observed throughout the entire inspection. Children were observed during free play, handwashing, and the start of lunch. Emergency preparedness documents were observed. A sample size of four children's records were reviewed. No children's injuries were reported. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the family day home and were reviewed with the provider at the exit interview.
Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies be stored away and inaccessible to children. Evidence: 1. A bottle of color enamel with a warning label, ?Keep out of reach of children? was on the floor near the children?s toy bin. The bottle was in reach of children in care. 2. Staff #1 confirmed the bottle was in reach of children in care.
Plan of Correction:
The provider responded with the following: Staff #1 immediately locked up the color enamel bottle making it inaccessible to children in care.
