Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on 2/27/2023 with the center director and staff. There were 11 children present, ranging in ages from 5 years to 12 years, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 1 staff record were reviewed. Staff file received electronically 2/28/2023. The children were playing outside, having afternoon snack, and working on homework.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of two staff files and staff interview, the facility failed to have each staff complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course (VA Preservice) within 90 days of employment. Evidence: Staff 1 (date of employment 9/26/2022) did not have documentation of the VA Preservice course on file.

Description:
Based on observation, the facility failed to sanitize tables before and after each use for feeding. Sanitize is defined as " the surface of the item is sprayed or dipped into the disinfectant solution and allowed to air dry on the surface for a minimum of two minutes or according to the disinfectant solution instructions." Evidence: the tables were wiped with a disinfecting wipe before and after the children had snack.
Plan of Correction:
Staff will use a spray sanitizing solution and allow the product to air dry.
