A code compliance inspection was initiated on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 and concluded on February 17, 2023. On February 15, the inspector was on site from 10:45am to approximately 11:35am. There were 7 children in attendance with one staff directly supervising. During the inspection, the children and staff were observed participating in a variety of activities. Staff were observed having positive interactions with the children. All areas of the facility including classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms were inspected. Medications are not administered and transportation is not provided at this time. Five children's records and two staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on observation, interview, and staff record review, the center did not establish and implement a procedure to ensure daily simple health screening and exclusion of sick children by a person trained to perform such screenings.
Evidence: 1) The record of Staff #1, employed 11/07/22, did not contain documentation of the staff receiving training in daily health screening. Staff #1 was the only staff member present during the inspection on 02/15/23.
2) During interview, management reported that staff observe children upon arrival for signs of illness, but the staff did not have current certification in conducting daily health screenings when the inspection was conducted.
Plan of Correction:
Staff #1 completed the training on 02/17/23.
