Technical Assistance:
There was a discussion of 8VAC20-800-1020-A through J., relating to overnight care. The LI and provider discussed types of gates to use at stairways.
Comments:
An announced new facility inspection was conducted on 1/31/2023 from 10:30 am to 11:40 am. No children were in care at the time. The Licensing Inspector reviewed one staff record and three household member records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete. The LI conducted a walk-through of the house.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on observation and interview, the provider failed to have one part of the house in a safe condition.
EVIDENCE:
One of the cellar windows was broken with jagged glass and it would be accessible to a child in the backyard. The provider stated she contacted the landlord about it.
Plan of Correction:
The maintenance people are scheduled to fix this on 2/3/2023.
Standard #:
8VAC20-800-330-A
Description:
Based on observation and interview, the provider failed to have an operable landline telephone.
EVIDENCE:
The house had no landline phone during the inspection. The provider stated the old phone broke and a new phone is on order.
Plan of Correction:
The phone is now here, and new phone company will have it connected on 2/6/2023.
