Comments:
A non-mandated monitoring inspection was conducted on July 10, 2023 on site from 2:15 P.M.-4:15 P.M., and at the administrative offices for record review on July 14, 2023 from 10:10 A.M.-11:10 A.M. There were 41 children present, ranging in ages from five to 12 years of age, with eight staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staff qualifications and training, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of five child records and six staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-430-I
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that personal articles were labeled with the child's name.

Evidence:
1. In Classroom #1 there were six water bottles not labeled with the child's name.
2. In Classroom #24 there were four water bottles not labeled with the child's name.
3. In Classroom #23 there were six water bottles not labeled with the child's name.

Plan of Correction: Upon arriving each day staff will ensure that each child's water bottle is labeled with the child's name to ensure it identified the owner. If not labeled staff will place a piece of tape on the water bottle with the child's name.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-540-C
Description: Based on observation and interview, the failed to ensure that all items were in a first aid kit.

Evidence:
1. The first aid kit that was located on-site of the building was missing the following; manual, tweezers, and two triangular bandages.
2. Staff #2 stated that the complete first aid kit was at the pool with the other group of children
and staff.

Plan of Correction: Staff will review the First Aid kit weekly to ensure all necessary items are in the kit. A list of items will be placed in each kit.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-G
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that food brought from home was clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner.

Evidence:
1. In Classroom #1 there were two lunchboxes with no name or date and one lunchbox with no date.
2. In Classroom #24 there two lunch boxes with no date, and one lunchbox with no date or name.

Plan of Correction: Upon arriving each day staff will ensure that lunchboxes are labeled and dated. If not staff will place of piece of tape on the lunchbox with the name of the child and the date.
