Technical Assistance:
The possibility of bolting or otherwise securing the tall freestanding cubby units to ensure that they cannot be tipped over by children was discussed.
The program director will email information regarding retro-fitting the cribs with evacuation supports and casters to existing cribs. In addition, the program director will send documentation to support the installation of tamper resistant electrical outlets.
Comments:
An announced initial inspection was conducted on 05/23/2023. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, programming, special care and emergencies. New measurements of the Sun Room were taken. The square footage of classroom space will accommodate 50 children at 35 square feet per child. There are 2 toilets and 2 sinks, allowing for a maximum of 40 preschool children. The playground space will allow 11 children to be on the playground at any one time.
Information gathered during the inspection determined a non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program and discussed with the program director during the exit interview.
Based upon observation, the facility has not ensured that furnishings are appropriate for the children. Evidence: Thirty cribs were observed set up and in place for use by infants. None of these cribs were manufactured for the evacuation of infants in an emergency.
