Comments:
An announced monitoring (initial) inspection was conducted on August 23, 2023 from 9:10 am-11:00am. The sample size consisted of 1 provider and 1 household members record. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensure that potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants, deodorizers, plant care chemicals, pesticides, and petroleum distillates shall be stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children.
Evidence: The following hazardous materials were observed and determined accessible to children. These items were labeled "keep out of reach of children" and labeled with at least one other statement "warning", "flammable" and "hazardous". 1. Insect killer and weed killer were in the unlocked shed in the outside play area 2. Laundry detergent, bleach, disinfectant and household cleaner observed in laundry room
Plan of Correction:
Correction-the outside shed has a lock that is out of reach of children and it will be checked as lock at all times. Provider has added locks to each cabinet

Description:
Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensure all flammable and combustible materials such as, but not limited to, matches, lighters, lighter fluid, kerosene, turpentine, oil and grease products, aerosol cans, and alcohol shall be stored in an area inaccessible to children.
Evidence: Spray paint, bug spray and a blow torc were all observed in the unlocked garage on a shelf.

Correction-the door to the garage will always be locked, added an extra hook and lock to the top, of door out of the reach of children

Description:
Based on observation and provider interviews, the provider did not ensure that children over the age of two shall not have access to stairs with three or more risers that do not have protective barriers or guardrails on each side.
Evidence: In the outside play area there are stairs with 3 risers and that do not have guardrails that lead to an outside deck.
Plan of Correction:
Correction- Provider has secured a gate with zip ties around the outside deck stairs.
