Comments:
A code compliance inspection was initiated and concluded on 2/20/2024. There were 82 children present with 13 staff supervising and 3 administrators. Children were observed engaged in free play in the gym and during teacher led activities in the classrooms. A total of 6 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:35 am and concluded at 11:20 am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on record review and staff interview the center did not ensure to obtain a copy of the results of a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence: Staff #6 indicated on the sworn statement as to having lived outside of the state of Virginia within the last five years. The staff person in charge confirmed that the center had not obtained documentation of an out of state (Hawaii) child abuse and neglect search.
Plan of Correction:
The Center has completed a CONSENT TO RELEASE INFORMATION FROM THE Child Protective Services System Central Registry from the required State of Hawaii. The Center will contact the Inspector with the Central Registry findings as soon as the Center is notified. A copy of the completed Form has been submitted to the Inspector.
