Comments:
An announced initial inspection was completed by two inspectors from 10:30am until 12:30. No children were in care. The licensees and a director were present.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, programming, special care and emergencies and nutrition. Policies and procedures were reviewed including the emergency procedures. The physical plant, indoors and outside were inspected. The center has the necessary supplies and equipment to operate. The CACFP contact information was shared with the licensee.
The play area is not yet fenced but the licensee states it will be installed before children are in care. Shade requirements (VAC20-780-330) were discussed. The licensee has a plan to keep children away and protect children from a creek behind the center.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violation (s) were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on observation, the required nonmedical supplies were not at the center. Evidence: 1. There was not a working, battery-operated radio at the center.
Plan of Correction:
A battery operated radio will be be bought.
