Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on: 1) providing parents with a copy of the "Information to Parents" statement which can be found on the OCCHS website: www.childcare.virginia.gov 2) ensuring that there are toys and materials for the ages of the children in care 3) ensuring that there is a crib and/or rest furnishings for each individual child in care 4) a crib is required for children under 18 months of age, and must be manufactured after 2010; mesh-sided cribs are permissible (portable cribs) as long as it meets current CPSC guidelines
Comments:
An announced initial inspection was conducted on 2/7/2024. There were no children present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed the health and safety checklist items including: posted documentation, the flashlight and first aid kit, meals and snacks, naptime and safe sleep routines, discipline, indoor and outdoor play areas, and hand washing. Two provider/household member records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Please provide a corrective action plan that describes the standard not met, the action to be taken to meet it and the date by which it shall be completed with your signature. Based on observation and interview, the provider was not in compliance with the criteria on the health and safety checklist. Evidence: 1) Section 1: there was no 911 or emergency numbers posted or a posted evacuation plan 2) Section 2: there was no protective barrier on the stairway accessible to children 3) Section 3: there was no thermometer in the refrigerator to ensure it is kept at no more than 40 degrees (F)
Plan of Correction:
Will obtain a thermometer. Will put a gate at the stairs. Will put a 911 sticker on the phone. Will post an evacuation plan.
