Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on March 9, 2021 and concluded on March 10, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 37 children present and 12 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed three children's records and six staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-E
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensue that insecticides/pesticides were stored in a physically separate area than cleaning materials.

Evidence:
1. In the Pre-School bathroom in the locked cabinet over the sinks there was a container of insecticide/pesticide stored with the bleach spray, soap and water, and other cleaning materials.
2. Staff verified that it was a can of insecticide/pesticide stored in the same area as the cleaning materials.

Plan of Correction: Administration immediately removed the insecticide/pesticide and threw it away. Administration will review hazardous materials requirements with the staff.
