Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on 6/29/2022 with the center director and center staff. There were 73 children present, ranging in ages from 2 years to 10 years, with 7 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 8 child records and 1 new staff record were reviewed. The children were engaged in a variety of activities including water play, swimming, art, science, and eating lunches prepared at home.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22.1-289.058
Description: Based on staff interview, the facility failed to have a carbon monoxide detector in all buildings built before 2015 as required. Evidence: Center staff stated that a carbon monoxide detector had not been installed as required by 9/1/2021.

Plan of Correction: Center director stated that she would bring in a carbon monoxide detector this week.

Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to keep all medications in a locked place that prevents access by children. Evidence: a box of antacid medication was in an unlocked upper cabinet in the science room.

Plan of Correction: Staff stated that the medication was going to be used for a science experiment. Staff locked the medication during today's inspection.
