Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on 10/25/2022. There were a total of 57 children with 11 staff members present. Children were observed during outside playtime, transitioning outside, playing with sand and engaged in various other activities. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 6 child records and 3 staff records& 3 board members were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on a review of attendance records, child file review, and staff member interview, the operational responsibilities of the licensee did not ensure that the terms of the current license issued by the department were compliant. Evidence: Child #1 was not 16 months when they started care. (date of birth 6/9/2021 & first day of attendance recorded as 8/22/22) Child # 2 was not 16 months when they started care. (date of birth 6/10/2021 & first day of attendance recorded as 9/13/2022) Director confirmed both of these children were in care prior to 16 months old.
Plan of Correction:
We will not start children until they are 16 months.
Standard #:
8VAC20-780-280-B
Description:
Based on observation, hazardous materials such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method. Evidence, Febreeze light, Lysol spray, and an unmarked bottle with a yellow substance was unlocked on top of the shelf by the door to the classroom.
Plan of Correction:
We will move the cleaning supplies to the tub that locks. If they do not fit we will remove them from the classroom.
