It is very important to ensure that soap and water and sanitizer is available at all times, particularly during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on 05/19/2020 and concluded on 05/21/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 10 children present and 8 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based on observation and interview the center did not ensure hazardous substances, when not kept in original containers, the substitute containers shall clearly indicate their contents. Evidence: In the infant room there were 2 clear bottles containing a liquid substance. The bottles were not labeled. In the large shared room there was 1 bottle containing a liquid substance that was not labeled. The director confirmed all three bottles contained a bleach and water solution.
Plan of Correction:
The following plan of correction was provided by the director during the exit interview: The director will label all bottles containing chemicals.
