Technical Assistance:
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 01/21/21 and concluded on 01/27/21. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 31 children present and 9 staff. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B
Description: Based on observation the center did not ensure where playground equipment is provided, resilient surfacing shall comply with minimum safety standards when tested in accordance with the procedures described in the American Society for Testing and Materials standard F1292-99.
Evidence:
The 2 composite playground structures did not have the required resilient surfacing in the fall zones of the slides. There were weeds and grass growing up from underneath the mulch in the fall zones of the playground slides on both the 3 year-old and 4/5 year-old playgrounds.

Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the director during the exit interview:
Additional mulch has already been ordered and the weeds and grass will be removed.
