Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 11/03/2020 and concluded on 11/04/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 29 children present and 6 staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.Please call me if you have any questions at 804-662-9766 or e-mail tara.barton@dss.virginia.gov.
Based on staff interview, the facility failed to notify the inspector of the suspension or termination of child care services for more than 24 hours as a result of an emergency situation and plans to resume child care. Evidence: the child care was advised to close for two weeks by the Virginia Department of Health starting 10/5/2020 and reopening 10/19/2020. The licensing inspector was not notified until 10/16/2020.
Plan of Correction:
Facility will notify inspector of any emergency closings.
