Comments:
A renewal inspection was conducted on 8/10/2022. There were a total of 68 children with 15 staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, playing with water outside, engaged in toy play, and socializing within groups. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B
Description: Based on observation of diaper changing procedures, the staff member did not ensure the immediate safety of the child during the diaper change.
Evidence:
Staff member A stepped away from the child to dispose of the diaper.

Plan of Correction: The staff member has been retrained: during diaper changes, when disposing of a diaper, a hand shall remain on the child to ensure safety.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-520-A
Description: Based on a review of topical ointments, over-the-counter skin products were kept beyond the expiration date of the product.
Evidence:
1 of 3 diaper ointments that were inspected were kept past the expiration date (7/22).

Plan of Correction: The parents have been contacted to provide a replacement tube of Desitin.
