Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated and concluded on 7/16/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were (58) children present and (11) staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Please contact me if you have any questions at Stacy.Doyle@dss.virginia.gov or 571-835-0386.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-520-B-11
Description: Based on review of the allergy list and interview, the center did not have a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
Evidence:
1. Child # 3 had a diagnosed food allergy and the center did not have an written allergy care plan.
2. Child #4 had a diagnosed food allergy and the center did not have a written allergy care plan.
3. The staff member stated they did not have a written allergy care plan for Child #3 or Child #4.

Plan of Correction: I will contact the parents to confirm their child has a diagnosed food allergy and request them to bring in a written allergy care plan.
