Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews (if applicable) and a virtual tour of the program (if applicable). A subsidy inspection was initiated on 8/24/21 and concluded on 8/26/21. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on a review of 4 staff records, it was determined that the vendor did not ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff, which shall include training on the following topics and training modules.
Evidence: 1. The record for staff #3 (date of hire 2/3/19) did not include documentation for the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. 2. Staff #5 (Program Administrator) confirmed that staff #3 had not completed the required training within 90 days of hire.
Plan of Correction:
The vendor responded: Staff #3 has started the Virginia Preservice training and will complete it.
