Licensing Inspector arrived at 7:50 and departed at 8:30 AM to conduct a complaint inspection related to ratios. All classroom ratios were checked and name to face sheets maintained by the center were reviewed. Based on all information received, this complaint is determined to be valid.
Based on observation and review of name to face sheets maintained by the facility, it was determined that the facility failed to ensure that there was one staff member present for every five children between the ages of 16 months and two years.
Evidence: 1. On 11/14/19, the sixth child arrived in the toddler room at 7:50 AM requiring a second staff member. Additional children arrived at 8:00, 8:05 and 8:20 AM making a total of nine children. The second staff member arrived in the room at 8:25 AM. 2. On 11/26/19, the sixth child arrived in the toddler room at 8:20 AM requiring a second staff member. The second staff member did not arrive in the classroom until 8:31 AM. 3. On 12/3/19, the sixth child arrived in the toddler room at 8:25 AM requiring a second staff member. The second staff member did not arrive in the classroom until 8:30 AM. 4. On 12/4/19, the sixth child arrived in the toddler room at 8:20 AM requiring a second staff member. The second staff member did not arrive in the classroom until 8:30 AM.
Plan of Correction:
Classroom schedules have been adjusted to the needs of the center. Center management has spoken to the classroom teacher and has reviewed classroom ratio policies and procedures. Teacher has been advised to ask for support if nearing ratio to ensure classroom is in compliance. Center management will keep track of ratio in order to maintain compliance.
