Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 9/14/2020 and concluded on 9/16/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 26 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review, the center did not implement a monthly practice evacuation drill and a a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year.
Evidence: 1. There was no documentation of a completed fire drill for December 2019. 2. There was only one documented shelter-in-place drill for 2019.
Plan of Correction:
We are having a fire drill today, and will be sure to complete all drills moving forward.
