The Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) in Virginia is not a single program to which individuals can apply directly. It is a federal funding source, which partially supports various services delivered through local departments of social services.
Each year, states are required to submit a Pre-Expenditure Report and Intended Use Plan as prerequisites to receiving SSBG funds. This report contains information on expected expenditure of federal funds under the SSBG for each annual award. These submissions outline the planned use of SSBG funds for the provision of services in each state.
Prior to submission of the Pre-Expenditure report each year, the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is required to make the report available to the public for review and comment. Reports on this page represent VDSS' fulfillment of the requirement.
