SNAP Changes for Noncitizens

Recent changes to federal law narrowed eligibility for SNAP benefits for some noncitizens. These changes apply to both new applicants and current SNAP recipients. As a result, some customers who used to qualify may no longer be eligible.

The new law limits who can get SNAP based on citizenship and immigration status. It does not change SNAP eligibility for U.S. citizens, including U.S. citizen children in families where other members are noncitizens. It also does not change the benefit amounts for households that remain eligible.

Explore the information below to learn more about who is still eligible, which benefit programs have been impacted and how to navigate these new changes.
