This page explains the data used in the LDSS Annual Profile Report. It also defines key terms to help you understand the information.

ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.
These are working households that earn above the federal poverty level but still struggle to afford basic needs.
Data is updated every two to three years at the county level.

These estimates show how many people live in an area as of July 1 each year.
They are based on U.S. Census Bureau data.
Race and ethnicity are reported separately. Earlier data grouped some populations into an “other” category.

This shows the number of people living below the federal poverty level.
Estimates are created each year for states and counties.

The data comes from national labor surveys and unemployment claims.
Reports are released several months after the year ends and may be updated over time.

The data shows the number of people under age 65 without health insurance. Federal poverty level is used to compare income to need.

The data shows the number of adults reported each quarter. It includes both confirmed and unconfirmed reports.

The data shows how many applications were submitted and processed for benefits.

The data counts the number of people who received benefits during the year. Only individuals approved for benefits are included.
“Any benefit” includes:

The data shows how local agencies spend funds on:
Funding sources include federal, state, local, and special funds. Special funds include federal support provided during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The data shows the number of open positions compared to total positions. This includes full-time and part-time roles. Volunteer and invalid positions are not included. You can view staffing data by month and year.

The data shows births to women who were not married at the time of birth. Rates are based on total births. Small data counts may be hidden to protect privacy.
