Fatherhood Engagement

Fathers play an important role in the well-being of children. Research shows that children with engaged fathers are less likely to experience issues with their mental and behavioral health. These children are also more likely to have greater success academically and as adults. At the Virginia Department of Social Services, we are committed to ensuring that fathers have access to resources that promote engaged parenting.

This database helps fathers find connections and support to create more stability for themselves and their families. It includes a variety of local, state, and national resources for parenting education, mental health and wellness, reentry assistance and more. These resources can assist fathers in gaining the confidence and capabilities they need to overcome barriers and achieve their goals as parents.
