Comments:

The Piedmont Licensing Office received a complaint in regards to a participant at Bedford Adult Day Care Center. The complaint alleges that a participant was isolated from the rest of the group taken outside and was made to sit by themselves. The LI for the Bedford Adult Day Center conducted an unannounced complaint investigation at the facility on 12-2-2019 from 10am until 1pm and noted 40 participants and 10 staff to be at the facility. Participant and staff records as well as other forms of facility documentation were reviewed and interviews were conducted with staff. Based on all information available for review, it was noted that after finishing a coloring activity, participant 1 and participant 2 was escorted by a staff member to a smaller room off from the large day room that is referred to as the "sun room" to watch the local hospital helicopter land and take off. Afterwards participant 1 was returned to the large day room and sat with other participants 2 and 3 to wait for the next activity to begin. Based on the preponderance of evidence available for review this complaint is unfounded. If you have any questions please feel free to contact your LI.
