This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A (monitoring/renewal) inspection was initiated on 04/30/2021and concluded on 05/04/2021. The in-charge person was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There 1 child present present and 1 caregiver. The inspector emailed the in-charge person a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 1 child's record and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A Description: Based on observation the licensee did not ensure all areas and furnishings of the family day home were maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence:
There was an accordion style gate in a doorway where children have access, posing a pinching hazard.Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the licensee during the exit interview:
The gate was removed during the inspection and replaced.
