Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced mandated inspection was initiated and completed on 5/28/24 from10:40am until 1:15. There were 7 children and 6 staff present. Four children?s records and five staff records were reviewed. Children were observed playing outside and inside, washing hands, eating lunch and during rest time.

The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violation (s) were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A
Description: Based on record review, the center did not have all the required information in the children's records.
Evidence:
1. Child #2's record contained no information for any chronic physical problems.
2. Child #3 had an allergy listed but no action to take was listed.

Plan of Correction: The director will get the missing information from the parents.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to have a nonabsorbent surface for diapering.
Evidence:
1. The infant room and the toddler room has diapering pads that had 3-4 tears on them.

Plan of Correction: New pads will be ordered.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-520-C
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to have the diaper ointment labeled.
Evidence:
1. The Desitin and Aquaphor was not labeled in the infant room.

Plan of Correction: The diaper cream will be labeled.
