An unannounced complaint investigation was initiated and concluded on 01/23/2024 in response to a complaint received by the licensing office on 12/15/2023 regarding staff and behavioral guidance. Interviews were conducted relating to the allegations on 01/23/2024. The information gathered during the investigation does support the allegation, so the complaint is determined to be "valid". Standard #: 8VAC20-780-400-A Complaint related: No Description: Based on interview it was determined the center staff did not interact with one another in a way that promoted the children's physical, intellectual, emotional, and social well-being and growth.
Evidence:
1. 5 of the 5 staff interviewed confirmed that staff #3 and #5 got in altercation with each other that involved yelling and pushing in front of children in care.
2. 4 of the 5 staff confirmed that they were aware of at least one child that was visibly upset by the altercation.
3.Staff # 3 and #5 reported they felt they needed to apologize to the children for their behavior during this incident.Plan of Correction: Staff have been trained to notify supervisor of any issues or concerns with their coworkers to ensure it is resolved appropriately.
Staff #3 and #5 spoke with afterschool and gave a heartfelt apology and explained the importance of problem resolution to prevent this type of inappropriate behavior.
