An investigation was initiated in conjunction with a monitoring inspection from 8:30 am - 9:30 am to investigate a complaint received by the department involving the need for additional caregivers. Interviews were conducted, documentation, children's records, and staff records were reviewed. The complaint regarding the need for additional caregivers was determined to be valid.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard #: 8VAC20-800-570-A Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on observation and review of the attendance record it was determined that the provider failed to ensure that a caregiver does not exceed caring for children over 16 points. Evidence: Upon arrival at the family day home on 01/25/2024 at approximately 8:30 am the LI (Licensing Inspector) observed 8 children in care with the provider ages, 5 months, 5 months, 17 months, 18 months, 22 months, 2 years, 3 years, and 3 years for a total of 23 points. Upon review of the attendance record it was determined that the provider was caring for children over 16 points beginning at 7:50 am until 8:55 am when staff A arrived at the family day home. The LI confirmed that the work schedule for staff A is 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
