Discussed the following:
8VAC20-800-500. Outdoor play area and equipment.

B. The highest climbing rung or platform on outdoor climbing equipment or top of a slide shall not exceed six feet for school age children and four feet for preschool children.

C. Stationary outdoor playground equipment shall:
1. Not be installed over concrete, asphalt, or any other hard surface;
2. Be placed at least six feet from the perimeter of other play structures or obstacles; and
3. Be firmly anchored with ground supports that are covered with materials to protect children from injury.

8VAC20-800-790. Posted telephone numbers
The following telephone numbers shall be posted in a visible area close to the telephone:

A. The family day home shall have a written emergency preparedness and response plan that:

3. Includes provisions for a responsible person who is 18 years of age or older and is able to arrive at the family day home within 10 minutes for emergency backup care until the children can be picked up by their parents.

Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. The statutory requirement can be found online at ttps://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title22.1/chapter14.1/section22.1-289.057/.

Comments:
An unannounced, on-site renewal inspection was initiated on 09/03/2024 and completed on 09/03/2024. The on-site inspection began at 9:30am and ended at 10:35 am. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 2 children present and 1 caregivers; the point total was 2 points. The inspector reviewed 4 childrens records and 1 staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Please complete the plan of correction (POC) and date to be corrected sections for each violation cited on the violation notice. Specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Submit your POC within five (5) business days from today, which will be the close of business on September 11, 2024. A POC submitted after this date will not appear on the public website.

Evidence: The provider did not have phone number posted for a person to be emergency back up as required. Provider stated she does not have emergency back up presently.
