*Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/18/2024 and completed on 12/18/2024. The on-site inspection began at 9:33 am and ended at 1:00pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 113 children present and 23 staff. The inspector reviewed 6 children's records and 6 staff records on-site on 12/18/2024.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A Description: Children's hands shall be washed with soap and running water after toileting and staff shall wash their hands with soap and running water before and after a diaper change.
Staff 1 failed to wash the hands of child 1 and child 2 after completion of a diaper change for each child at approximately 10:00 am. Staff 1 failed to wash her hands after completing a diaper change for child 1 and before changing the diaper of child 2.Plan of Correction: Administrative staff stated that correct hand washing procedures will be discussed with staff 1 and that all staff will be retraining on correct hand washing procedures.
